The venture capital market has developed strongly in Latin America in recent years, but its representation in the economy as a whole is still timid.
Since 2019, it is possible to notice an increase in representation in the region's main innovation hubs such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, with Colombia and Brazil being the biggest highlights.
In Brazil, the share in relation to GDP peaked in 2021, reaching the highest % in the region, and doubled from 2019 to 2022. In Colombia, which had a share of 0.4% in 2022, the percentage remained stable.
Compared to other large ecosystems such as Israel, Singapore, the United States, China and Germany, we note that there is still a large space for the Venture Capital market to increase its participation in the region.
