In the last quarter of the year, the valuation (median) of private technology companies globally increased at all stages. However, startups in more advanced stages (series C and D+) registered the biggest increase compared to the last quarter - 54% and 43%, respectively.
While the valuation of series A and B stage startups decreased compared to the same period last year, for seed stage, series C and D+ startups the scenario was different and increased by 8%, 32% and 11%, respectively.
However, the number of deals remains low relative to recent years' totals and is on track to decline annually at all stages in 2023. This suggests that the increase in valuation in the third quarter of the year is, in part, a reflection of some startups who are unable to attract investments, even with low valuations.
