Education (52%) and Healthtech (43%) are among the sectors receiving the most AI investment in 2025.

Two markets that have historically been hard to scale, whether due to regulation, operational complexity, or slow innovation cycles are now emerging as some of the fastest accelerated by artificial intelligence.

This horizontal infographic chart, titled “AI'S NEW FRONTIERS: EDUCATION AND HEALTHTECH,” shows the percentage of capital invested in AI startups by sector during the first half of 2025 (Q1-Q2 2025), based on data from Carta. The sectors are divided into two main categories on the left: “Digital” and “Physical.” In the “Digital” category, the “SAAS” sector received the largest share of capital, with 59%, followed by “EDUCATION” (52%), “HEALTHTECH” (43%), “FINTECH” (17%), ‘CONSUMER’ (16%), and “GAMING” (13%). In the “Physical” category, the “HARDWARE” sector led with 48%, followed by “BIOTECH” (24%), ‘ENERGY’ (11%), and “MEDICAL DEVICES” (10%). The horizontal bars are colored in shades of blue for the “Digital” category and blue-green for the “Physical” category, with lengths proportional to the percentages. The horizontal axis at the bottom ranges from 0% to 65% in 5% increments.

AI is unlocking new models, efficiency, and scale in areas where innovation used to move slowly.

For founders and investors, this signals real opportunities to rebuild critical sectors of the economy with technologies that finally enable personalization, cost reduction, and data-driven decision-making.

The sectors most resistant to digital transformation are becoming the next drivers of technological change.
