Startups Characteristics - Latin America

Latin America's innovation and technology ecosystem has experienced significant growth and transformations in recent years, due to a favorable socioeconomic context and some characteristics of the region that generate an extremely favorable environment for the construction and scalability of digital solutions.



With a more mature ecosystem, startups in the region concentrate some characteristics:


Fintech is the largest segment in the region and is not concentrated in specific countries - in 2021, the top 3 segments of new startups were martech, retailtech and fintech;


SaaS predominates as the main business model for startups - factors such as revenue recurrence, scalability potential, potential for integration and customization and favorable regulation favor their expansion;


An exclusively B2B target audience predominates in the main Latin American countries - more than 66% of all startups in Latin America offer products and services to this audience.
