The first half of 2025 confirms a structural shift in the AI venture capital market: while the number of funded startups has declined, check sizes have grown significantly.

According to BestBrokers.com, AI startups have already raised $122 billion by July, with $104.3 billion coming from the United States alone. Deal volume, however, has fallen to its lowest level since 2017.

Infographic showing the biggest artificial intelligence deals of 2025 (deal values in billions of dollars, as of July). Highlights: OpenAI leads with $40B; Scale follows with $14.3B; X1 records $10B; Anthropic raises $3.5B; Infinite Reality hits $3B; Safe Superintelligence Inc. secures $2B; Groq raises $1.5B; Anysphere, $900M; plus smaller deals of $480M and $310M. Yet the sector remains dominant. AI now accounts for nearly 30% of all VC deals — and more than 57% of total capital deployed globally.

This marks the transition into a new phase: more capital, less dispersion. Funding is concentrating in platforms with robust infrastructure, global ambition, and strong technical leadership. It’s the era of big bets.

The year’s largest rounds underscore this trend: OpenAI ($40B), Scale AI ($14.3B), xAI ($10B), Anthropic ($3.5B), SSI Inc. ($2B), among others.

With less room for scattershot investing, both founders and investors must be better prepared: longer cycles, more technical rounds, higher expectations — and a new level of strategic discipline to secure capital in a market that demands clarity, efficiency, and scale.
