Venture capital in Brazil is undergoing a structural shift and is operating with greater selectivity.

The number of deals remains significant, indicating that the ecosystem continues to be active. In contrast, total invested value has declined consistently, signaling a reduction in average ticket size and more limited availability of larger rounds.

An overview of venture capital in Brazil in 2025, presented in a graph showing the total aggregate value and number of transactions. The graph shows that the total aggregate value fell significantly from 2021 to 2023, but then increased in 2024 and 2025. The number of transactions fell from 2021 to 2023, but remained stable in 2024 and 2025. The main investment sectors are: Software & IT Services, Industrial Software, Banking & Investments, and Healthcare & Tech Systems. The source of the data is the TTR Data Report.

The pattern observed in 2021 and 2022 serves as a benchmark for this inflection point. During that period, both deal volume and capital deployed expanded simultaneously, supported by abundant liquidity and broad exit expectations. The subsequent adjustment did not halt activity, but rather redefined its criteria, resulting in the environment observed in 2025.

Sector concentration reinforces this interpretation. Investments are largely concentrated in software, digital services, and financial solutions, segments characterized by recurring revenues, lower capital intensity, and greater predictability of monetization. The limited presence of more experimental or capital-intensive sectors suggests lower risk tolerance and a preference for already validated business models.

In 2025, venture capital in Brazil reflects a more rational and structurally disciplined market. The cycle remains open, but it operates under a different logic than the previous peak, with greater emphasis on fundamentals, efficiency, and alignment with future liquidity pathways.
